I can't imagine denying my girls a Barbie because she was a terrible role model. But critics are saying just that, and much more. The battle has sparked a controversy with the Girl Scouts, Mattel and the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood.

The Girl Scouts and Mattel have teamed up for the first ever corporate sponsorship of Barbie. Scouts can earn a Barbie "Be anything, Do everything" participation patch and strongly defended their partnership with Mattel, countering that Barbie has a wholesome image. But critics disagree saying Barbie is basically a terrible role model for girls, and she's not about what Girl Scouts' principles are, namely leadership and courage! Do you buy that?
