New Water Taxi Coming to Fall River Waterfront

Mayor Paul Coogan announced a water taxi pilot program that he plans to launch this summer, allowing an easy mode of transportation and a memorable experience on the Fall River waterfront.

What to Expect

The mayor announced the plans for a water taxi that could help alleviate some of the traffic in the city and attract more tourists.

“It’s going to have four, maybe five, stops from the Tipsy Seagull which will give you access to walk to Canned Heat Brewery or over to Columbia Street, or you can go all the way up to the wall and visit the monuments there, grab something to eat at Barrett’s, and in the afternoon, take a ride along the waterfront,” the mayor said.

When you buy your ticket, you get a loop of all the stops. You will have access to get off on any of the stops and hop back on to take you to where you started.

“We’re going to try it,” said the mayor of the pilot program. “It’s something we’d like to do (and) we have the opportunity to expand if it takes off, so it’s a win-win.”

Thanks to a new grant, the city also acquired a used trolley that will be used to boost tourism, generate revenue, and make traveling about town much easier. The mayor hopes to coordinate trolley and water taxi schedules, making summertime by the water easy living.
