Throughout the SouthCoast, the spirit of giving is as vibrant as the rising sun.

Local businesses and people are making a difference in the community and among those selfless saints is a popular eatery in Downtown, New Bedford and they could use your help. For the very first time, Carmine's at Candleworks is looking to give back to those in need this Thanksgiving, and here's how you can help.

On Monday, November 20th, from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Carmine's is hosting a day of donations. They've partnered up with PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly) and will be kicking off a special food drive to help feed those who may not be able to afford dinner for Thanksgiving this year.

"We wanted to do a food drive that will help feed 500 families for Thanksgiving this year," Carmine's Manager Ariana Souza said, "We're looking forward to giving back to the community, and since we're located downtown and have such a great reach within the community, we hope this project will have a positive impact on a lot of people."

One of the dining rooms at Carmine's will be held just for donations: filled with tables, crates, and volunteers who will sort through the donated food. A majority of the volunteers are workers from Carmines as well as Brooke Araujo, founder of Take Back NB.

What They Need:

  • Turkey, Ham & Pot Roast
  • Canned Goods (Vegetables, Fruit)
  • Boxed Goods (Stuffing. Mashed Potatoes)
  • Boxed & Canned Dessert Mixes
  • Bottled & Canned Juices
  • Potatoes, Yams & Sweet Potatoes
  • Other Holiday Items (Cultural based)

If you have any questions or concerns, you can email Ariana at ariana@carminesnb.com or call 774-510-7901 and she'll be happy to help.
