The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the South Coast and much of Eastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Northeast Connecticut. 

Strong northeast winds will affect much of the area and may result in wind damage including downed tree limbs and power outages throughout the morning. Driving may also become difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind gusts may reach up to 45 mph, with the strongest winds occurring during heavy rain squalls and isolated thunderstorms. The advisory is in effect until 11 p.m. tonight.

Communities that may be affected include Taunton, Fall River, New Bedford, Mattapoisett, Providence, Warwick, Bristol and Newport, among others. Visit NOAA for the complete list of affected areas and counties.
