On July 12th when you look up at the sky, you'll see a super moon. But what makes it so super?

A super moon is of course a full moon, but it's actually the fullest moon you will see. That's cause when a super moon comes around, the moon is closer to the Earth that at any other time.

If you want to get all science-y about it, a super moon is called a Lunar perigee. And in further nerd talk, a moon at perigee is 14% larger and 30% brighter than a moon at apogee (it's furtherest from the Earth point).

But whether you want to be scientific about it or not, a super moon is super cool! Look for the night sky to be especially bright tonight and beware of all the crazies that might come out!
