Entering his second full season of retirement, David Ortiz says it's too bad he's not playing next Thursday. It's the first opening day in decades that all 30 MLB teams have games scheduled. But the 42-year-old for Red Sox player said he's looking forward to watching different teams compete this season.

So what about the Red Sox/Yankees rivalry in 2018? Well the former slugger says that the Yankees are the team to beat this year. Boston.com quotes Ortiz as saying that the New York team is stacked with power and that he doesn't think anyone else in the division can compete with them.

However, Big Papi added that he doesn't think having the Red Sox go into the season as underdogs is a bad thing. The World Series champion says that Boston will be out to exceed expectations, especiall with the addition of J.D. Martinez as the designated hitter. He expected the Red Sox to "give a hard time to anyone who comes to town."
