Weekend Stabbing Keeps New Bedford Paramedics Busy

Weekend stabbing sends man to Trauma Center

New Bedford Paramedics responded to the South End Friday night for a report of a man stabbed in the area of the 7-Eleven on Cove Road around 7 pm.

Paramedics found a young male who had sustained multiple stab wounds to his abdomen after a confrontation. The victim was in serious condition and immediately stabilized and transport to Rhode Island hospital Trauma center.

Two Paramedics were needed to stabilize and maintain the victim's airway allowing him to breath during the ride to the hospital.The trauma center was alerted and a surgical team was activated.

The patient was immediately transferred to surgery to stop his internal bleeding and is expected to recover. Police are investigating.
