Baskin-Robbins and Ben and Jerry's may brag about having a wide variety of ice cream offerings, but when it comes to choosing a favorite flavor, Americans stick with plain vanilla.   For the second straight year, vanilla is the most popular ice cream flavor, according to a survey of ice cream makers by the International Ice Cream Association.

According to the survey, the top three ice cream flavors are vanilla, chocolate and butter pecan, with coffee, Neapolitan and Rocky Road tied for fourth place.   In addition to flavors, the survey also asked manufacturers about the most popular additions to ice cream.  Pecans are the most popular nut, with strawberries being the most popular fruit addition.
