Acushnet Road leading from Tinkhamtown in Mattapoisett to Fairhaven has been closed for nearly a year, but that is (hopefully) soon to change

It has been a frustrating year for people who want to get from the Tinhamtown section of Mattapoisett (and parts of Rochester and Acushnet) to Fairhaven. Next week will mark one solid year that a culvert on Acushnet Road was deemed unsafe by the Mass DOT. Since then, residents have had to trek miles out of the way in order to get to Fairhaven...adding on precious minutes to their morning commute. Residents also voiced concern about safety...worried that they have been cut off from emergency services and health centers in Fairhaven.

Thankfully, after a year of waiting, there is finally construction activity happening at the site. Mattapoisett's Highway Department says the construction company has a deadline of November 13th to finish the work.
