Word's out that New Bedford and Fall River are getting some new breweries come 2017.

Boston Magazine reported that Moby Dick Brewing Co. and a Portuguese- influenced brewpub are coming up with something in New Bedford and that Troy City Brewing is crowdfunding a Fall River debut.

This is extremely good news for the beer-dry region since New Bedford has been struggling for awhile now to find its way to get back in the groove of things ever since whaling stopped being a thing. Two different groups of locals believe bustling brewpubs should be part of New Bedford’s future.

Fall River also has trouble attracting vibrant downtown businesses since their textile industries have long fled. Luckily, one native son is turning his hobby into a reality and creating a nano-brewery.

The breweries are reported to be up and running by 2017.
