The search is on for three Afghan soldiers who were training at a Cape Cod military base. They arrived in Camp Edwards on the Cape on Sept. 11 for a U.S. Central Command Regional Cooperation training exercise at Joint Base Cape Cod, but disappeared.

Security for the base reported the soldiers missing on Saturday night, with the three last being seen at the Cape Cod Mall in Hyannis. The multiple groups working to find them include local and state police, along with military officials.

According to ABC.com, military officials said there is no indication the foreign soldiers are any kind of threat to public safety, but the mystery still has people on edge.

Collaborations between U.S. and foreign military isn't uncommon as the training exercises have happened annually since 2004. This year's exercises included over 200 participants from six nations, with a dozen other Afghan soldiers still taking part. The exercises end on Wednesday, so hopefully we get some good news on the missing soldiers by then.
