The Honest Company, co-founded by actress Jessica Alba, is a company that provides customers with organic and safe wellness products for both adults and children.

The company sells a variety of household goods with the promise of ensuring they “empower people to live a healthy life.” Apparently that promise does not also include healthy skin.

People are posting online about the dangers of using The Honest Company's brand of sunscreen, because users say that is simply does not work.

The sunscreen currently has only 2.9 stars on Amazon, with many users saying that even after reapplying it multiple times they still got a bad burn. Users are even posting photos of their burns online, and it is not pretty.

The controversy began when a post by an Indiana mom's complaint about the sunscreen was picked up by NBC Chicago. The mom said that she reapplied the sunscreen 3 times but her daughter still ended up completely burnt.

The Honest Company released a statement saying that they are "committed to providing safe and effective products, and [they] take all consumer feedback very seriously."

They added "The number of complaints received on our own website about our Sunscreen Lotion constitute less than one half of one percent of all units actually sold at honest.com. We stand behind the safety and efficacy of this product."

The sunscreen is FDA approved, so it could simply be that the users are not applying the sunscreen every 80 minutes like the directions instruct.

Ultimately, the risks might outweigh the benefits of using this organic sunscreen, so I'm gonna stay away from this one!
