As a kid, this was my least favorite holiday of the year.   It meant the end of summer vacation and the beginning of a school year that would seem like an eternity.

I actually thought the reason for  "labor" day was to remind us all that it was time to go back to work.   So it was confusing as to why no one was actually working on that holiday.   But now of course, I know the reason for Labor Day is to celebrate the contributions of all Americans who work hard to help make this country great.

I imagine that it's also a day that helps stimulate the economy with the many retail sales events that are advertised.   So whether you are one of those who actually has to work on this day, or plan to do some shopping, or have one more summer cookout, please enjoy the day.
