Got an old car seat you don't know what to do with? Bring it to Target for a trade-in.

Much like with cars, Target is letting you trade up in car seats with their annual car seat trade-in event.

From now until May 4, you can bring your old, potentially expired, possibly even damaged car seat to Target and get a 20 percent off coupon towards a new car seat, car seat base, stroller, travel system or even certain baby home gear.

It's the perfect way to get rid of an older car seat that's just taking up space in your home and do something good with it.

That's because the car seats traded in with be recycled into all sorts of products. Target teams up with Waste Management to use the materials from the seats and turn them into “pallets, plastic buckets and construction materials such as steel beams and carpet padding.”

So fitting that this campaign kicked off on Earth Day.

The coupon you receive in exchange for your car seat can be used both in store and online from the day you exchange up until May 11.

It's perfect for moms whose kids have gotten older and may be ready for a booster seat instead. Though not that great if your kids are done with car seats altogether.

Perhaps Target could just make it a general 20 percent coupon next time? That would probably make this event a lot more popular.
