***UPDATE*** 9:25 The yellow tape is down and the command center is leaving the scene. The situation appears to be over. No official word yet about the condition of the suspect, but Swansea PD is confirming that they responded to a person who was "despondent".

NBC 10 is reporting a SWAT team situation in Swansea tonight.  A man reportedly tried to shoot his girlfriend before fleeing to his home at 21 Nichols Street.

Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad is on the scene along with K-9, air units and local police.  Police are describing it as an active situation.

Brian Fraga from the Herald News is reporting that he hears yelling and crying from the scene and that the individual is "a police officer, member of SE Mass Law enforcement council, SWAT TEAM type unit."
