Sovereign Bank To Get New Name

Add Sovereign Bank to the list of financial institutions undergoing name changes in recent years.  Effective in mid-October, all 700 Sovereign Bank branches will be known as Santander Bank, after it's Spanish corporate parent.   Sovereign has many branches here in Southeastern Massachusetts. 

Sovereign Bank is one of the 25 largest retail banks in the U.S.   The bank says the name change will be supported by a an advertising campaign to familiarize customer with the parent company, which has 102 million customers in the U.S., Germany, The United Kingdom, Brazil, Mexico, Chili, Spain and Portugal.
