Massachusetts State Police are campaigning for America's Best Looking Cruiser for the year 2023.

The survey is being conducted by the American Association of State Troopers.

As of this writing, Massachusetts trails Kentucky, Georgia, Michigan and Florida. Our state's troopers are sitting at No. 5.

Top 5 isn't bad, but the State Police are hoping to walk away with the No. 1 spot.  Truthfully, they've got some work to do to catch up with Kentucky.  The Bluegrass State has roughly twice as many votes.

In the spirit of the national contest, we thought it would be fun to compare the cruisers from some SouthCoast police departments. While many of them have a very similar black-and-white color scheme, there are some that stand out.

Which do you prefer?  The classic black and white look like Fairhaven, Westport and Acushnet? Or maybe the black in Marion, Dartmouth and Rochester?

If we were taking this poll back in the '80s and '90s, we'd be looking at a lineup of Ford Crown Victorias, a sedan at the time that was built to take a beating.

Today, most of the police cruisers you see on the road are Ford Explorers, but I'm a sucker for a nice Dodge Charger cruiser. I believe a cruiser is designed to be a bit on the intimidating side, by design.

Those Dodge Chargers do the trick, in my book.
