I don’t know who needs to hear this, but it’s time to take your Christmas trees down.

OK, it’s me. I need to hear this.

We are into the second week of the new year and my Christmas tree is standing tall in my living room, surrounded by holly jolly decorations that have no business being out in January.

There are reasons why I have not yet taken down the tree or the decorations, and it turns out, I’m not the only one.

I Can’t Bring Myself to Untrim the Tree

I won’t lie to you. A big reason my Christmas tree is still up is a result of pure laziness. I went with a fake tree this year, and every morning, I walk by it and stare at the dozens of tiny ornaments hanging on the branches.

Holiday fatigue hit me hard, and I don’t have the energy to take down the ornaments, pack them gently, and disassemble my tree to put away for next year.

There is a piece of me that isn’t quite ready to say goodbye to the holidays. The tree is my favorite holiday decoration, and when that is gone, seasonal depression is not far behind.

I can’t be the only one, right?

Is Your Christmas Tree Still Up? You’re Not Alone

It turns out I’m in good company this year. According to these SouthCoast families, the tree has yet to be taken down.

“Haven’t even thought about it,” said Monica DaSilva.

“(It’s up) until my husband makes me take it down,” said Ashley Correia. “(It) lasted until March one year.”

While many families chimed in online to say their tree is still proudly up, there were a few people who couldn’t wait to get rid of it.

“Took it down on New Year’s Day,” said Kelly Breton.

“Mine has been down since the day after Christmas,” said Krystle Marques.

I will most likely muster up the energy to take it down this week, but I won’t like it.

Where do you stand? Is yours still up or has it been gone for weeks?
