Big news coming out of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, yesterday. The department finally awarded a $210 million, 10 year contract to New England based company, Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc., which will allow the South Coast Rail project to officially move into its construction phase.

Massachusetts Governor, Deval Patrick, called the perspective rail project, which is expected to provide service from both New Bedford and Fall River to Boston's South Station, a "game changer."

This new rail line is a huge deal for people all over the south coast. The fact that transportation to Boston, whether it's for work, leisure or something else, will be that much easier for people from the New Bedford/Fall River area is great.
