So this week I was treated to a behind the scenes look at the development of the new EJ's Restaurant And Deli.

That's right, in case you haven't noticed that mammoth building sitting next to Emma Jean's Bakery and Cafe, it is coming along quite nicely.  The butcher shop is scheduled to open on Thursday, August 21st.  The restaurant's "soft opening" will be the following Monday, August 25th.  What's even more impressive than the building itself and how fast it has been built is what EJ's will offer, once it's doors are opened to the public.

First off, EJ's will have a completely stocked New York-style deli. That might be what I love most about this place, too. I love getting a quality deli sandwich and now while I'm at work I won't have to travel so far to do just that.

EJ's will also feature a full dine-in, family-style restaurant so the whole family can get together and share a nice dinner, together.  The restaurant's centerpiece will be a brick oven.  Steaks, burgers, ribs and pizza will be served along with a complete line of American fare like turkey dinners and mac and cheese...and desserts from next door at Emma Jean's.

Finally, one of the cool aspects of this place is going to be their on-site butcher shop. We're talking about premium cut meats and cheeses, chicken, sausages, sauces and accessories.  They'll even offer exotic choices like ostrich or bison.

The best thing about EJ's might just be the fact that it is run by Fairhaven natives that have lived here their entire lives and want to help make the community as successful as possible. Congratulations to the Melanson Family!
