Members of the Dog Park Committee  have been working on plans for a local dog park located in Fairhaven.

Originally they had planned to locate the park in an open area on Long Road. After that proposal was approved, Highway Superintendent John Charbonneau reported to committee members that the land was already designated for brush dumping after hurricanes.

Due to the setbacks on the project the commitee has been searching for a new location for the project.

At the Board of Public Works Meeting the DPW director Vincent Furtado that the Macomber Pimental Field on Bernese Street off of Sconticut Neck Road was “underutilized.’’ According to Southcoast Today, Committee members hope to divide the park into two areas, one for larger dogs, the other for smaller ones.
