Two of those locations are Seekonk and North Attleboro. Affected locations announced their abrupt closure in a statement posted on the doors of the vacant restaurants.

"We regret to inform you that Fridays has made the difficult decision to close our doors at Seekonk, MA, effective January 2, 2024. We are extremely grateful to our loyal guests and our team members," the statement reads.

According to a statement released by Ray Risley, U.S. President and Chief Operating Officer at TGI Fridays, the closings are attributed to underperformance by the company.

"By strengthening our franchise model and closing underperforming stores, we are creating an unprecedented opportunity for Fridays to drive forward its vision for the future," Risley stated.

The famous chain now has seven locations remaining in Massachusetts: Dartmouth, Braintree, Boston, Stoughton, Everett, Methuen and Millbury.

For the affected employees, the company says that they are offering over 1,000 transfer jobs to nearby TGI Friday locations.
