It's a unique Halloween celebration and it will be taking place on the Boston Common Frog Pond this weekend.

Although I had never heard of it before myself, it seems the Pumpkin Float event has been going on for years up in Boston...and it sounds super cool.

The event invites people to bring their own carved 8 inch pumpkins (any bigger and it won't float!) to the pond on Sunday night starting at 4:30 p.m.

The pumpkins are then illuminated and launched out onto the water on small mats of foam. And by the time the event wraps up at 6:30 p.m., the pond is full of glowing pumpkins!

There are also activities for kids young and old throughout the event as well as music and refreshments.

And the whole thing is absolutely free!
