This week the Providence Performing Arts Center announced their exciting 2024-2025 season schedule, with plenty of Broadway shows, mega artist musicals and some cool concerts.

Despite the return of Hamilton next December, Providence premieres of Back to the Future: The Musical and Life of Pi and the national tour debut of Shucked at PPAC next fall, it is a summer show we can't wait to see.

Because this July, Grammy-winning rapper Nas is taking the PPAC stage alongside the Rhode Island Philharmonic.

Though details on the show are scarce, this seems to be a unique show on Nas' tour schedule.

Most other scheduled performances will be at spring/summer festivals around the globe, but one stop this July will do things a little differently.

On Saturday July 20, Nas will team up with Rhode Island's professional orchestra to present his beloved songs in a whole new way.

The plan is for the classical instruments to provide the beats for Nas' hits like "If I Ruled the Word" and "Hate Me Now" while the rapper himself takes center stage.

It's actually not the first time the Rhode Island Philharmonic has teamed up with an artist, in fact on March 23rd they will accompany The Indigo Girls onstage, but as far as we can tell this is the first pairing with a renowned rapper like Nas.
