The Patriots continue to try to replace Wes Welker. USA Today is reporting that Austin Collie has been signed to the team. While injury prone, Collie was one of Peyton Manning's favorite targets while the two played for the Indianapolis Colts. Collie was most recently a member of the San Francisco 49ers, who cut him at the end of training camp. Collie has had issues with concussions, in particular, and has reportedly agreed to sign a waiver that states he will not hold the New England Patriots accountable if he gets one. The Patriots have not made an official announcement, yet. No word if he would be available for this Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals...or whether he'd even know the playbook well enough to be inserted into the offense. t Although, with 4 receivers out on injury this week, the Patriots sure could use him.
