The New England Patriots marched into Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis last night and took complete control of the AFC after thumping the Indianapolis Colts, 42-20

While there's not much shock in the above statement, knowing New England's success over the past decade, there was a considerable amount of shock in how the Brady-led Pats, yet again, broke down another top flight team.

In a style that drastically opposes the first nine games of New England's season, offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels dialed up a heavy dose of the running attack to neutralize the Colts' impressive pass defense.

With that influx of rushing plays came a boatload of success as former practice squad player Jonas Gray, who a few weeks ago took over for the injured Stevan Ridley, posted a career day. Gray rushed for 201 yards and four scores on the day.

Gray's big day is a testament to his work and effort and also to his offensive line's abilities as well. A line that just six weeks ago was in complete disarray has suddenly found itself with the emergence of rookie Bryan Stork. The first-year man has done a good job at the center position and in turn has allowed veterans Dan Connolly and Ryan Wendell to fill the ever important guard roles.

On the flip side of the New England rushing attack was their staunch rush defense which rendered the Colts one dimensional for the entirety of the game. From there the defensive secondary was able to make enough plays to silence dynamic young quarterback Andrew Luck.

With another huge divisional win under their belt, the Patriots will turn their focus to the 7-3 Detroit Lions, as they welcome them into Gillette Stadium this coming Sunday. Detroit's defense is among the top of the NFL this year so it will be interesting to see how the Patriots attack it, especially with this newfound rush attack.
