Newport, Rhode Island has apparently solved the puzzle as to which is its most famous mansion, as one will be featured in an upcoming episode of the long-running television game show Wheel of Fortune.

Maggie Sajak, who joined Wheel of Fortune a few years ago as a social correspondent, was in Newport on Monday visiting The Breakers to film an upcoming segment for the show.

The Preservation Society of Newport County shared a photo to its Facebook page of Sajak, the daughter of host Pat Sajak, being filmed in front of the grand staircase.

Wheel of Fortune viewers will see Maggie in the Great Hall of The Breakers in a brief clip promoting a trip to Newport as one of the game’s prizes,” the Preservation Society wrote.

The segment is expected to air sometime in September.

The Breakers was the “summer cottage” of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Vanderbilt II, and was constructed in 1893-1895, replacing a wooden mansion that had burned in a fire.

The Gilded Age icon has been open to tours since 1948 and has been in the care of the Preservation Society since 1972.

The Breakers has appeared on camera in the past, ironically enough in a film titled Reversal of Fortune, where it stood in for nearby Clarendon Court, the home of Claus and Sunny von Bulow.

Maggie Sajak actually first appeared on her father’s show as a one-year-old, but a grown-up Maggie joined the program as its social correspondent in 2021. In that role, she creates exclusive digital content that gives Wheel fans a behind-the-scenes look at the program.

The Princeton University graduate has also filled in for letter-turner Vanna White in the past, when White stepped in as host while Pat Sajak recovered from surgery.

Back in June, it was announced that Pat Sajak would be stepping down as host of Wheel of Fortune in 2024 after more than 40 years at the helm. He will be replaced by Ryan Seacrest.

The SouthCoast has had quite a connection to Wheel in recent years. First, New Bedford was the answer to a puzzle in 2021, and last year, an Onset landmark may have made a cameo appearance pretending to be from somewhere else.
