New Bedford's National Night Out is a hoping to bring the community together.

The night out will feature music, face paint, and free snacks, among other things. The most valuable thing offered at National Night Out though, is the bridge between law enforcement and the children of New Bedford.

The hope of the entire event is to bridge the gap between neighborhoods and their police according to southcoasttoday.com.

"It’s about breaking down walls between authority figures and our kids,’’ said Jerry Pinto, president of Neighborhoods United of New Bedford, which is sponsoring the New Bedford event. “We just want to build stronger relationships with everyone and show that everyone’s just a human being"
