Starting this Thursday the annual Madeira Feast will be celebrated for the 101st year.

With more than 100,000 people expected to attend this years four-day weekend festivities, the preparations are hitting an all time high for the staff involved.

The Feast of the Blessed Sacrament always begins with a processional and blessing led by Rev. Daniel O. Reis, which then leads to the main event, the feast. With enough food to feed tens of thousands, and lively music and entertainment, the event is always one of great pride for the locals.

The feast will begin on Thursday at 6 p.m., and at noon Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and will last until midnight located at 50 Madeira Ave. in New Bedford.
