It looks like I am heading back to school. I am thrilled to say that I will be teaching a media course this semester at Fairhaven High School. The class will cover television, radio, and film (with an obvious emphasis on radio). Best of all, it will not interfere with my duties here at Fun 107, as the course will be offered in the early afternoon. The announcement was made on the Fun Morning Show this morning. LISTEN BELOW:

Occasionally over the years, I have been asked to give a number of lectures at different area high schools to talk about my career. I realized that I really had fun talking to young people about broadcasting. I found it very satisfying.

When I was in high school, I would have done just about anything to have attended a class like this one. I did, however, have the amazingly good fortune to land an internship with radio legend, Dale Dorman. He was so influential to me that I decided to dedicate my life to (trying to) entertain people on the radio.

I am most excited about the thought of giving FHS students some real world insight on our rapidly changing industry, and passing along some of the lessons that I have learned from my mentors over the past two decades. My hope is that the students will be able to apply some of the philosophies I will share to whatever career they choose…whether it’s in the media industry or otherwise.

Interesting side note: There was some talk of placing the media class in the famed "Room 107". How appropriate would THAT be? However, we decided that although the room looks amazing, it is not properly equipped to handle a media class. I think the room looks like it could have been used in the film "Dead Poets Society".
