A 23-yer-old Acushnet man was killed early this morning in a two-car crash on Route 140 near the Phillips Road exit.  He has been identified as Adam Taylor, and was pronounced dead at the scene.  The accident happened at about 2:30 a.m. in the northbound lane of the highway.

The Bristol County DA's office has charged 26-year-old Caitlin Chouinard of Fairhaven with motor vehicle homicide while under the influence of liquor.   She is also charged with negligent motor vehicle operation and a marked lanes violation.

Chouinard was driving on Route 140 when she lost control of her Jeep Liberty, spun around and ended up in the middle of the road.  Shorty after, her jeep was hit by Taylor's car, and both vehicles burst into flames.   Chouinard was able to escape but Taylor was not.   All northbound traffic was detoured off the highway at exit 4 for a time after the crash.
