French Mastiff found all by himself and starving in Acushnet.

According to WCVB, Ambra Sweeney found a French Mastiff, now named Braxton, eating out of a garbage can in her yard last week. He was 100 pounds underweight and could barely stand. Sweeney immediately called animal control and officer Kathy Massey showed up to the scene.

Braxton only weighted 76 pounds and he was found with no microchip or collar.

Braxton is very well trained so animal control is sure he had a previous owner. Now the main focus is finding the owner responsible for Braxton's condition and putting them to justice. Currently, he is with a foster family and being fed three meals a day with two scoops of food in order to regulate his diet.

Braxton does has some trust issues with humans, a common effect with neglected animals, but loves his foster family.

Many local residences have donated food or medical expenses to the Acushnet Animal Gift Fund, to help with Braxton's recovery. Mattapoisett Animal Control strongly encourages anyone who knows about his previous owner, to come forth and call 508-400-8910. Anonymous calls are welcomed.
