New England Patriots Super Bowl hero Malcolm Butler went to West Middle School in Brockton yesterday to deliver an inspirational message about bullying.

Butler was open with the kids...admitting that he himself was bullied when he was growing up in Mississippi.

"I know kids look up to me, and I know I can make a difference if I tell them what I went through and how I felt when someone bullied me. They look at me as a celebrity, but I’m telling them from the standpoint of 'I’m just like them; I’ve been through the same thing they’ve been through. I didn’t have much coming up," he said. "They’d talk about my shoes, they’d talk about my clothes, just talking about you in general to try to make you feel down."  --Malcolm Butler (courtesy of ESPN)

Butler said bullying needs to be stopped, and praised a group of sixth graders who created the "Kindness Club" to fight bullying.

It's always great to see a pro athlete share their positive message and time to stop something like bullying in schools.  Butler says it meant a lot to him when athletes visited his school when he was a kid.
