There is only one final step before the eight new classrooms at Westport’s Macomber School will be ready to use.

According to The Herald News, the new modular classrooms are waiting on an occupancy permit as the final step of the process.

Michelle Rapoza, the director for transportation and student services, confirmed that the new classrooms will be set up later this week. All the technology, electric, and plumbing is in the process of being installed.

These new modular classrooms have been installed as a result of the closure of the middle school after the 2014-15 school year. The Massachusetts School Building Authority agreed earlier this month that the town and the district met the requirements for a new building.

As for the other two school buildings, Rapoza reports more good news. She stated that the elementary school is in its final stage and it will be completed before September 8. That school will educate students in grades 3 to 6.

The Junior/Senior High School in Westport is currently having its gymnasium repainted and will be educating those in grades 7 to 12. Personally, I can't wait to see the outcome of this project. As a Westport resident who attended this school as a child, nostolgia is all around me!
