If you are lucky enough to be headed to Gillette Stadium tonight for the Ed Sheeran show, there is good news and bad news.

The bad news is that Khalid is unable to perform as the opening act after a car crash earlier this week.

The good news is that he's on the mend and Ed found a replacement.

That replacement is John Mayer.

Gillette Stadium made the announcement Friday morning, but the announcement was met with mixed reviews.

The news first broke of Khalid’s accident on June 23 when Ed Sheeran announced the “Young Dumb & Broke” singer would not join the Maryland show on June 25. Instead, Sheeran decided to be the opener for his own show.

Khalid’s mother, Linda Wolfe, shared more information on the accident, and it turns out her son was hit by a passing car after he pulled over due to his car overheating.

As Khalid continues to heal, Sheeran is filling in the opening-act slots with a few of his friends.

“Those are going to be two amazing shows!” wrote one Twitter user.

“Gillette, this isn’t very unSwiftie of you,” said another, in reference to the falling out that Mayer and Swift had years ago.

At the end of the day, Ed Sheeran is the true star of the Mathematics Tour and he will undoubtedly rock the house tonight at Gillette.
