Like any job interview, you should be prepared to answer a lot of questions.  But which questions are off-limits, illegal in fact, to ask?

Monster.com recently highlighted a hand full of questions that a potential future employer is legally not able to ask during an interview.  In case you weren't aware of this, we thought you'd want to know.

Tell me about your childcare situation with your kids?  They cannot ask you this.  It may imply that because you have children you would not be as committed to the job.

Is that a limp you have, what happened?  Or, what is that scar on your face from?  Employers legally cannot ask these types of questions or about any disabilities.  It is illegal to discriminate based on a persons disabilities.

How long are you away for your army reserves?  Employers are prohibited from asking about anything military relating to a commitment to the government that may make you unavailable for certain work days and hours.

Have you ever been arrested?  Employers CAN ask if you've ever been convicted of a crime but they can't ask if you've been arrested.  That arrest could have result in charges being dropped.

And if you're a woman, know that a future potential employer can not ask "When do you plan on having kids?"  They can't assume and then make judgment that you'd be any less committed to the job because you want to have a family someday.
