Ikea’s Motivational Mirror

Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who's the greatest/best/prettiest/awesomest of them all? YOU ARE!

Well, that's according to the 'Motivational Mirror' at Ikea. They have a mirror that compliments anyone that walks up to it and looks at their reflection. It says things 'I love what you've done with your hair', or 'Your beard looks great today.'

So, while Ikea is known for their cute, stylish, affordable yet impossible to built furniture, they are now making people's days with compliments!

The mirror was set up in a British Ikea, which after doing some research on Brits, turns out to be the perfect place to have it. Apparently, the British lack confidence and are very self-critical. 49% of Brits say they receive a grand total of ZERO compliments in an average week, man that's awfully sad! 33% of them say they look their worst before 9am on a Monday, and 2/3's of them claim they are insecure and writhing with self doubt. Poor Brits! Geez!

Well, here's the good news. Ikea did some research after the motivational mirror was put on display, and 38% of the people who received a compliment from the mirror said it made them smile, and 26% of them said just hearing a kind word made them like themselves more.

I think this is such a great idea and hope it makes it's way across the pond to us! For now though, why not make your own motivational mirror? Just write some inspirational phrases on some post-it notes and stick em to any mirror in your house. It's easy and cheaper!
