How To Save Money On Your Wedding

Planning a wedding can be super stressful and really expensive, but it doesn't have to be!  I got married 6 months ago, and I was determined to save as much money as possible while still having an amazing wedding.  I knew it was possible and I was going to make it happen!  Here are some tips on how to save some cash but still have a fab wedding!

1- Skip a wedding party.  I initially started out having one, but it was incredibly stressful and was going to cost me and my friends a ton of money!  So I decided to skip it, everyone saved money on a fancy matching dress and it worked out great!  I still included my girlfriends in everything I did leading up to the wedding.  Then on my big day they were all with me while getting ready and everyone had their own special part in my day, without having to spend a ton of cash!

2- Think outside the box when it comes to hiring vendors.  Maybe you have a friend who sews on the side as a hobby.  Or, you know someone who is really crafty and can make your decorations just for fun!  Ask those people to help you out!  I hired as many friends as possible to help in my wedding, and it saved me a ton of money!  If you hire someone who sews as a hobby, you can save a ton of money on dress alterations!  Of course you will want to see their work before hiring them...you want to make sure they can actually sew!  As long as they know what they are doing and you like their work, then there you go, you can save yourself THOUSANDS!

3- When it comes to buying a dress, for the love of God, please don't spend thousands of dollars on a dress you will be wearing one time.  You can totally buy an amazing dress for a very reasonable price!  I told myself that I wanted to spend less than $500 bucks.  I just thought it was silly to spend more than that on a dress for one day!  I had that number in mind when I went shopping and I found a gorgeous dress that was a name brand designer and just happened to be 'discontinued'....score!!  Perfect gown, perfect fit and you guessed it, less than $500!  Look for dresses on sale, clearance or dresses that are being discontinued, you will save a boatload!
