Florida Man Gets In Police Chase While Drunk Driving A Horse

YouTube

Another gem out of Florida. A man was intoxicated while riding his horse as he led police on a half-hour chase through a northeast Florida town. You just don’t see that around here these days!

Charles Larkin Cowart, 29, was arrested in Bunnell, about 60 miles south of Jacksonville. A police officer was responding to a report of “an intoxicated male riding a horse” when he turned on his emergency lights to stop traffic as Cowart crossed the street. Cowart said he was on his way to his grandmother’s house in nearby Flagler Beach, but refused a police order to dismount and in an aggressive manner reared the horse back and took off.

What is a better way to elude police driving Dodge Chargers? Of course, A single horse v.s 450 horsepower? You know how this one is gonna end. Police let him do his thing, as they feared for the horse’s safety and people. He rode through town, and even got a train to slow down as he crossed railroad tracks. Police kept their emergency lights on, but did not use sirens to avoid frightening the horse.

Cowart ignored commands to get off the horse, which after more than half an hour became exhausted. He eventually jumped off and ran for it. He didn’t get far. Moral of the story: Don’t drink and ride your horse.
