Man leaves child in car while he drinks !

While some of us in society find it fashionable to blame the police for everything, A young chid can be thankful he was found by the police . A man from Framingham, Mass., is accused of leaving his 9-year-old son in his car inside a downtown parking garage while he went drinking at several bars.

Just after midnight on Saturday, the manager of the parking garage on Pine Street called the police when he saw the small boy sitting in the back seat of a Honda Accord with its engine running. The boy, who lives with his mother in North Easton, Mass., told the police that his father, Michael McGowan, 33, left him in the car, and he didn't know where he'd gone, according to a police report.

The police gave the boy a ride to the Public Safety Complex, where another relative came to pick him up, but McGowan was nowhere to be found, the report said.

Until just after 1 a.m., when the police were called to the Congress Tavern, a few blocks from the parking garage, about a highly intoxicated man who was refusing to leave the bar.

It was McGowan, who told the police he was trying to find his son, the report said. He was so intoxicated that a rescue was called to take him to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment, according to the police.

"What is alarming is it appears his intentions were to get back in the car and drive that 9-year-old home," said Providence Police Maj. Thomas Verdi.

Instead, the police charged McGowan with child neglect, a felony, and he was held to face the charge in Family Court on Monday.
