As the nation redefines what we consider "fast food", Fall River's Blount Fine Foods has announced that they will be producing a new line of single serving soups. The new 10oz "Grab and Go" fresh soups will be sold at convenience stores and grocery stores nationwide. Blount is squarely young Americans who don't have time to cook, but still want to eat healthy, good food.

Hot-to-go at retail has been our hottest product category for the last few years, but consumers don’t always want to eat restaurant-quality fresh soup the day they purchase it. Our consumer research indicates this new line complements the hot-to-go offering in better grocers, creating the opportunity to sell incrementally more soup at excellent margins. --Bob Sewall, Blount executive vice president of Sales & Marketing

Blount says the challenge was getting each hand-crafted batch of soup into the small cups before the cuts of meat, vegetables and pasta begin to settle, which can lead to product inconsistency.

Blount makes soups for Panera Bread and Legal Seafood, but will be distributing the single serve cups under their own brand name.
