The next chapter of Don Orsillo’s broadcasting career got underway yesterday.  The longtime voice of the Boston Red Sox on NESN had his first day with his new club, the San Diego Padres.

Orsillo was with the Red Sox for fifteen seasons, but Orsillo signed a multi-year deal with the San Diego Padres several weeks ago after NESN and the Red Sox unceremoniously decided to replace him with Dave O’Brien from the Red Sox Radio Network.

On Wednesday, Mike Dee, the president and CEO of the Padres, welcomed him to Petco Park.

Don Orsillo posted this exciting tweet

What an awesome welcome, the Red Sox lost the best.
