Michael and Maddie were discussing the pros and cons of letting your dog sleep in your bed with you.  Maddie painted a picture of having two cats curled up on her right side and her puppy curled up on her left side.  Adorable, right?  Yeah, that's what I thought, too.

I started to feel bad that we don't let our dog, Bo, sleep in our bed with us.  It's just not something we ever did, but Maddie says we should leave well enough alone.  The truth of the matter is that when this sleeping arrangement happens at Maddie's house, there's barely any room for her husband.

Maddie says when the cats and the dog are in place she can't even roll over through out the night.  Not to mention that the puppy snores.  If they try to put the dog out of the room or in her crate she cries and keeps everyone up at night.  They feel like they are trapped.

Even with all of that, I do sometimes feel like I'm missing out on something by not allowing our dog to sleep upstairs.  One compromise might be bringing the dog's bed upstairs and letting him sleep in our room, not in our bed.  But Maddie says that will just lead to him being in the bed.

It got me wondering how many dog owners let their dogs sleep with them in their beds?  And if they do sleep in their beds, how many would reverse that decision if they could without upsetting the dog?
