Cornerback Darrelle Revis is now a New England Patriot after he signed a $12 million deal with the team to play for one year.

Boston.com's Steve Silva reported that the contract between Revis and the Patriots was signed Wednesday night. The 28-year-old Revis will replace Aqib Talib who just signed with the Denver Broncos for $57 million on Tuesday.

Revis was released from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier Wednesday afternoon,  a mere thirty minutes before his bonus kicked in, according to CBS Sports.

According to Tom Pelissero of USA Today, Revis' move to the Patriots will put him back in the AFC East Division where he began his career with the New York Jets.

Revis will now have one year to hit the free-agent market following the end of the 2014 season.NFL Reporter Albert Breer tweeted his own take on the situation.

Will Revis stay with the team after one year? Time will tell. Still the strategy on the part of the Patriots appears to be a smart one, at least in the eyes of Boston Globe reporter Ben Volin who called the move a "no brainer" on his Twitter feed.
