Right now at the Scituate Animal Shelter of Massachusetts there are no adoption fees on any animal. Here's why.

This week the Scituate Animal Shelter on Chief Justice Cushing Highway announced that there would be no adoption fees now through July 19th.

And country singer Miranda Lambert is to thank.

Seems the star has a Muttnation Foundation that works to shine a spotlight on animal shelters and rescues. And she is shining a big light right here in Massachusetts.

Lambert made such a substantial donation to the small shelter that they are able to offer no adoption fees on their animals though July 19th.

That's nine days of adopting at no cost for local families looking to give an animal their forever home.

Every since the news broke on the shelter's Facebook Wednesday afternoon, the shelter is swamped with phone calls and emails about the animals available at their rescue.

They write that the best way to inquire about a pet and get the one you have your eye on is to actually head to the animal shelter in person.

Getting back to all calls and emails isn't easy for the small staff, so seeing them face-to-face is your best bet.

And the animal's best bet too.

This is an amazing thing Miranda Lambert has done and it's going to help lots of families enjoy a new pet.
