If museums just aren't outdoorsy enough for you, then put this sculpture park in Woodbury, Connecticut on your summer bucket list instead.

Personally, I am all about the day trips this summer. Venturing out to places we can get to in a not too terribly long car trip as often as we can will be my version of a summer vacation, and one of the places I am really looking forward to exploring is the Hogpen Hill Farms Sculpture Park.

The 234-acre tree farm is also full of over 100 larger than life sculptures from Yale University professor Edward Tufte.

Interestingly enough, Tufte teaches statistics, computer science and political science, but it is his massive metal and stone artwork that really blows my mind – such as whatever is going on here with this airstream on a massive steel stick.

Or the mini Stonehenge he seems to have created.

These are just a few of the incredible pieces on the farm that also features five miles of walking trails.

It's really a one stop nature preserve/museum that you can spend the whole day exploring for a shocking $80 per car.

There is plenty of debate among past visitors on TripAdvisor as to whether this $80 is worth it or not, but to me 80 bucks for a family day trip doesn't seem too terrible. It's certainly much cheaper than taking a family of four to the Mystic Aquarium.

I'm pretty sure the photos of this place do not do it justice, but they do certainly make you want to see this stuff for yourself.

It's no wonder Hogpen Hill Farms has been called "One of Connecticut's 30 Hidden Gems" by Connecticut Magazine and "North America's best sculpture park" by Philip Greenspun.

I'm simply calling it the outdoor museum I most want to see this summer.
