Over the past few years the Cape has become common hunting grounds for great white sharks and has in turn provided ample opportunity for scientists to study these predators of the ocean.

Since the seal population in the local area has gone up, it is only the natural progression of nature that the shark population would soon follow suit. And this is exactly what has happened over the past few years.

With many a shark siting around Cape Cod, scientists have come from all over the world to learn from these animals through tagging and observation of their habits.

Of the many that have been tagged two sharks, named Mary Lee and Katharine and are respectively 16ft. and 14ft long., are being tracked to see if they will end up back in the cape area.

With the influx of population of these giant fish in recent years, an amazing opportunity to learn and study them has arisen and hopefully new data and information can be gleaned to help preserve these animals and protect their natural habitats.
