How would you feel if you got a call from your local police department telling you your kids were just given a citation from a police officer?

This story is going to warm your heart. Officer De Amaral from the Acushnet Police Department was patrolling around Monmouth Street and Middle Road this past weekend and caught something pretty positive happening that he wanted to highlight.

Ten-year-old Lindsay Sumner and her brother, 7-year-old Carter, were operating their bicycles very safely on the shoulder of the road with their helmets on. Officer DeAmaral decided to stop the two and with the permission of their mother, he issued both of them the FIRST “Positive Citations” of 2019.

They both got to celebrate Memorial Day with a free Ice Cream at Acushnet Creamery, what's better than that? Congrats to Lindsay and Carter, great job kids! We also want to give a big shoutout to Acushnet's Officer De Amaral for pointing out something super positive that kids in every town can learn from.
