Two New Bedford men have been arrested in connection with Saturday night's fatal shooting of Sharrone Stafford.  21-year-old Etlito Mendes of County Street is charged with carrying an illegal firearm, armed robbery and witness intimidation.   27-year-old Samir Baptista of Norwell Street is charged with accessory to murder before the fact.

Police were called after gunshots were heard late Saturday night in the area of Winsor and Crapo Streets.   When cops showed-up,  they found the 31-year-old Stafford lying in the street near the intersection.  He was pronounced dead a short time later at St. Luke's Hospital.

The District Attorney's office says it can not release any other information at this time due to the extremely active and ongoing investigation.  The two men are being arraigned today in New Bedford District Court.
