Alex Trebek hints at leaving Jeopardy after refusing to comply with a mom who wanted her child to stay in the game. On Tuesday, emails to Sony from Alex Trebek were hacked and revealed that Trebek was considering leaving the show due to a previous episode on Jeopardy! Kids.  The mother of one of the contestants on the show wanted her daughter to stay in the game longer even after she was disqualified in the final round for being in the red. The daughter then walked off the stage in tears, very upset that she had lost the game. Her mother was extremely displeased that Trebek didn't seem to care that her daughter was kicked off and wrote a very infuriating letter to Sony about how she should have been let back on again.

If I’m making mistakes and saying things you don’t like, maybe it’s time for me to move on. It’s not a threat, but I want to let you know how I’m feeling.

The mother was quoted on Pagesix saying in the letter, “If he had taken the time, he would have known, like you do, that my daughter is not a sore loser, and does not become emotional solely over losing a game." She went on saying that her daughter was "upset about not being able to completely play the game to the end,” and that she will never “forgive him [Trebek] for that.”

Sony responded by saying that Trebek's intentions were good and that they re-tape the segment but Trebek didn't want to give in to the persistent mom and wrote in the letters to Sony, “If I’m making mistakes and saying things you don’t like, maybe it’s time for me to move on. It’s not a threat, but I want to let you know how I’m feeling."

He continued in the letters saying how he would retape the opening if they wanted him to but that he was very disappointed with the producers and the company in general and that, "for 30 years I’ve defended our show against attacks inside and out. But it doesn’t seem to operate both ways."

My take on this story for what it's worth...unfortunately, not everyone can get a trophy for participating.  We can't all be winners, it's just a fact of life!  We've all lost at games or come up short somewhere along the line in life.  It happens and it's perfectly ok.  I feel bad that the girl was crying, because as a child, I am sure I would have cried too, but learning that not everyone gets to win is just a part of growing up.
